Our Story
Capitol was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1998 by Laura Vinroot Poole. We opened our second location in the historic Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles in 2019.
Within our Capitol family we have a sister store, Poole Shop, located on the second floor of Capitol Charlotte and our brother store, TABOR, is located nearby in the heart of Myers Park.

Capitol’s point-of-view is defined by the relationships that have been fostered with designers and clients for nearly 30 years. There is a unique edit of distinguished fashion houses and emerging design talent with a keen understanding of the clients’ lifestyles in Charlotte, and Brentwood (in Los Angeles, CA). The stores deliver a deeply thoughtful selection to each location that feels more like personal styling than shopping.
